Iconic Folding E-bike – 12.5kg!
As at 29 September we have one of each colour.
The bike itself weighs 12.5kg (14.5kg with the battery) and folds down to just 25cm. The unique fold down mechanism enables you to get it up and down within 10 seconds. There is also a heavy duty magnet located in both hubs that snaps the bike together when folded down so you can literally carry it like a suitcase by the seat. Also as the bike is mono fork there are no issues changing the back tyre if you get a flat. You can change the tyre with the wheel still on the bike.

The bike is single speed with three levels of pedal assist: 1) powers up to 13km/h; 2) up to 18km/h; and 3) up to 25km/h. So if you’re riding around a campsite or crowded inner city street you can have the pedal assist power up to a lower speed accordingly.
The 7aH Panasonic battery is located in the seat post. This can be screwed in/out easily so for inner city apartment living or in a caravan the bike can be left in an annex/stairwell whilst you take the battery inside to a charging port. Of course, the battery can also be charged on the bike. It will get around 52km’s of range (the 5.2aH around 40km’s).
Why go electric?
When you make the switch to riding a bike from point A to point B, you immediately get access to dedicated bike lanes and bike parking. You get to skip the traffic jams that are common in most urban areas and spend less on fuel without compromising on safety.
However, riding a bike daily can be strenuous and if you work at an office, you don’t want to arrive at work physically tired and sweaty. You also don’t want to take long to get there. An electric bike is the perfect solution to all these problems. You can effortlessly ride up hills and against the wind while reducing the impact on your knees and joints.
Recent changes to Australian legislature mean that electric bikes are no longer classified as motor vehicles and are instead classified as bikes. This means you can purchase yours today and start riding it tomorrow without having to apply for a license or fill in any paperwork.
How does it work?
Most modern electric bikes rely on an electric pedal assist system that can be employed to provide extra power. This means you can ride your electric bike as you would a standard one, adding a boost when and where you need it. Most bikes offer a charge of roughly 25-80 kilometres, depending on the power setting, which means that you should be able to commute to and from most urban destinations on a single charge. When you do need to charge it, it only takes a few hours and can be done wherever you find a source of power.
In short, it’s never been more convenient to ride an electric bike.
